Yamaha New Model: Yamaha India has finally confirmed that it will launch its new model on November 11, 2025. A “Block Your Date” invitation has been sent to the media. While the company hasn’t officially revealed which two-wheeler it will launch, market speculation suggests it will be either the XSR 155 motorcycle or Yamaha’s first electric scooter. Both options could prove highly attractive to Indian customers.
Yamaha New Model: Yamaha XSR 155

The arrival of the Yamaha XSR 155 in the Indian market has been a topic of discussion for quite some time. The bike was recently spotted testing in camouflage. Its design blends classic and modern styling. The round LED headlight, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, muscular exhaust pipe, and LED taillight give it a distinctive look. It features USD front suspension, a rear monoshock, 17-inch wheels, and disc brakes. Built on the same platform as the R15 V4, it will have a 155cc liquid-cooled engine, generating 18.1 bhp power and 14 Nm of torque. A 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch enhances its performance.
Yamaha’s Strategy in the New Two-Wheeler Segment
Yamaha’s clear intention behind launching a new two-wheeler in India is to target young customers and urban commuters. The company already has a strong presence in the 150cc and 250cc segments. Now, it will either target the stylish roadster segment with models like the XSR 155 or enter the rapidly growing EV market with an electric scooter. If the company launches an EV scooter, it will compete with brands like Ola Electric, Ather, TVS iQube, and Bajaj Chetak. Meanwhile, the XSR 155, if launched, could directly compete with models like the Honda CB300RS and Royal Enfield Hunter 350.
Yamaha Electric Scooter: New Model Inspired by River Indie

Yamaha has been preparing to enter the Indian EV segment for a while. Its first electric scooter, codenamed RY01, has been spotted testing on the streets of Bengaluru several times. This model is being developed in partnership with River Mobility and clearly bears similarities to the River Indie. The scooter will feature 14-inch wheels, a 6-inch color LCD display, and a robust swingarm. It is expected to have a 4 kWh battery pack, offering a range of over 100 km. It will be lighter and more practical than the River Indie. Yamaha’s move could prove to be a game-changer for the Indian EV market.
Why This Launch is Important for Indian Customers?
The Indian two-wheeler market is constantly evolving. Customers are now looking beyond just mileage and focusing on design, features, and technology. Yamaha has a strong track record with sports and performance bikes. Retro-styled models like the XSR 155 will appeal to riders who want a combination of style and performance. An electric scooter will offer an affordable and eco-friendly option for young people and office commuters. Given the rising fuel prices and the growing demand for green mobility, this launch becomes even more significant.
Yamaha’s Future: Balancing Performance and Electric Mobility
Yamaha is focusing on balancing both ICE and EV segments in the future. The company plans to launch at least two electric models in India by 2026. Along with this, new and upgraded bikes in the 150cc and 250cc categories will also be introduced.According to the company, India is Yamaha’s largest market, and Indian customers prefer technology-friendly products. This is why Yamaha is trying to create an evergreen yet trendy product lineup in India.
